In the widest sense, there's something interesting about this Netflix documentary, which began with Clarence "Coodie" Simmons seeing West's potential in 1998 while hosting a Chicago public-acces show.

Within a few years, Simmons had basically become West's cameraman and companion, documenting the highs and lows of his attempts to gain Roc-a-Fella Records' recognition and build a solo career.

From Mos Def to Pharrell Williams, Jamie Foxx to Jay-Z, the film features a who's who of appearances from individuals who crossed his path.

 includes becoming a parent and abandoning the project at West's request, only to return years later to finish it when Covid's hands were idle.
